long bio:
Arlo Indigo is a writing moniker used by the Brooklyn-based but Alaskan-raised songwriter and multi-instrumentalist. By blending elements of indie rock and songwriter folk with an emphasis on lyric he has created a sound that’s referential, topical, and relevant despite cyclical trends.
The title and solo project was born out of tragedy when a friend in a previous band passed away too soon disbanding the group and leaving an emotional and creative hole in its wake.
‘Arlo’ is a nod to a controversial childhood musical collaborator and ‘Indigo’ is the “color” he thought the songs sounded like when he first started experimenting with new sounds.
He has been in and out of various musical projects since establishing his solo work but in his words: “The nice thing about having a solo side is that I can only break up with myself, which is relieving.”
With three independently released full-length albums, a slew of single releases, and another full-length on the way, “Normalized Cringe”, he has settled into a sound that he describes as “a stadium-style sound, with a little twang” when he’s up there with the band and “a solo set that aims to be as engaging as the classic acoustic Neil Young live albums” while performing alone.
HIs next single ‘You Can’t Love Someone Based On What You Get Back’, set to be released 8/29, is an exercise in self policing emotional attachment and a commentary on transactional interpersonal relationships.
